Our Team

Nathan (Nate) Barr was born and raised in Philadelphia. He started working at Rose Bank Winery in 2016, pouring wine on the weekends while he earned his degree at Temple University. His love of wine began there: he researched and learned all he could about wine from books and from (of course,) drinking! 

In 2019, the opportunity arose for him to take over the winemaking at Rose Bank, under the guidance of winemaker emeritus Ray Greyling. He learned everything about his new career on the job, working closely with Ray on the art and science of winemaking.

Growing in his role since then, Nate has endeavored to put his own stamp on Rose Bank’s wine. With a soft spot for French wine, Nate has worked to create flavorful and high-quality wine in the style of his favorites-Stainless steel Pinot Grigio, grassy and light Sauvignon Blanc, and a Rosé more in line with his favorite Provençal style.

When making wine, Nate also takes into consideration the natural affinity wine has for food. An amateur chef, Nate loves to cook with wine, especially the wine he makes. Sometimes he even puts it in the food! Above all, Nate tries to make wine that will pair well with a variety of cuisine, to make wine that will earn a spot on the table from simple weeknight meals to elegant dinner parties.
